The branding of a corporate vehicle fleet must make the brand immediately recognisable, even when the fleet includes very different types of vehicles. Cars, SUVs, vans, pickup trucks and commercial vehicles have different proportions, surfaces and body lines: achieving a coordinated result requires more than simply reproducing the same graphics, as the design must be carefully adapted to each individual vehicle.

This is what we have done for the Astoria Wines fleet, customising various company vehicles over time with logos, lettering, decorative elements and printed graphics. The project was developed by maintaining a strong and consistent visual identity, while selecting dimensions, colours, materials and finishes suited to the characteristics of each vehicle. The result is a recognisable and professional fleet that promotes the brand during everyday journeys, deliveries, exhibitions and events.

Customising a fleet does not mean repeating the same “sticker” every time

When a company operates several vehicles, the main objective is to create a consistent image without forcing the same layout onto completely different body shapes. A logo that works well on the large side panel of a van must be resized and repositioned when applied to an SUV, a car or the cargo bed of a pickup truck.

The design must take doors, windows, wheel arches, handles, body contours and changes in surface into consideration. The distance from which the vehicle will be viewed is also important: the brand and key information must remain clearly legible without overloading the design with too many elements.

A coordinated image across cars, SUVs, vans and pickup trucks

The Astoria Wines fleet includes vehicles with different dimensions, colours and uses. The images show cars and SUVs used for company travel, vans with large side surfaces, pickup trucks also used during events, and other commercial vehicles.

The large Astoria logo is the most recognisable common element, accompanied by textures, gradients and graphic details that follow the lines of the vehicle body. On larger vehicles, the graphics can cover extensive surfaces; on more compact vehicles, the design is simplified and adapted while retaining the same visual personality.

This approach makes it possible to achieve coordinated vehicle customisation without necessarily making every vehicle identical. Each vehicle retains its own characteristics while remaining immediately associated with the same company.

Coloured vinyl, pre-spaced lettering and printed graphics

Different techniques can be combined to create professional vehicle advertising graphics. Lettering, logos and solid-colour elements can be cut from coloured vinyl and applied as pre-spaced graphics, producing clean outlines without a background.

Coloured Avery 800 Series cast vinyl was also used for these projects. For designs requiring images, gradients or more complex compositions, printable cast films by Avery and 3M were used instead.

On some vehicles featuring printed graphics, the specified system consists of Avery MPI 1005 Easy Apply combined with Avery DOL 1460 Z Gloss overlaminate. The graphics therefore consist of two layers: the printed film and the transparent protective laminate applied over it. The fleet includes both gloss and matt finishes, selected according to the design, the colour of the vehicle and the desired visual effect.

Full or partial vehicle graphics

Effective vehicle branding does not necessarily have to cover the entire bodywork. In many cases, a well-proportioned and correctly positioned partial design can communicate the brand more clearly than a full wrap overloaded with information.

The solution may involve simply applying the company logo to the vehicle, adding company lettering and contact details, or creating a more extensive design with printed images and backgrounds. The choice depends on the type of vehicle, the available surfaces and the message that needs to be communicated.

A van provides large areas on which images and text can be developed, while on a car or SUV it is often preferable to focus on a few clearly visible elements. A pickup truck requires a specific design approach because the cab, side panels and tailgate form separate surfaces that must nevertheless work together as a coordinated composition.

Graphics developed together with the client

For the customisation of the Astoria Wines fleet, the types and colours of the films were selected together with the client, with the aim of achieving maximum visual impact while respecting the brand guidelines.

Each composition was adapted to the shape of the relevant vehicle, preventing important parts of the logo or lettering from being interrupted by doors, mouldings or wheel arches. This adaptation process is essential, particularly when the same visual identity must be transferred to a fleet consisting of different models and vehicle categories.
